The actions of the Thai military demonstrate that Thailand is implementing a “Hybrid Strategy,” copying methods from both Russia and Israel to apply against Cambodia. These actions include:
1. Thailand is playing the “Russia” Game (The Russia-Ukraine Model)
The Russian war model in Ukraine is based on “Annexation” and “Identity Erasure.”
Symbolic Annexation: When Russian soldiers occupied the Donbas or Crimea regions, their first action was to take down the Ukrainian flag and raise the Russian flag to declare that “this place belongs to Russia.” The images of Thai soldiers raising the Thai flag and throwing the Cambodian flag onto the ground are exactly the same. This is not border defense, but a declaration of “Occupation” and an erasure of Cambodian sovereignty in that area.
“Demilitarization” Rhetoric: Vladimir Putin announced the goal of “Demilitarization” (to deplete Ukraine’s military). The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army announced the exact same wording: “render Cambodia incapable of military action for a long time.” This is the language of an aggressor wishing to destroy a neighboring country.
Ground Invasion: Just as Russia sent tanks into various Ukrainian cities, images of Thai tanks in villages and the destruction of border posts show a clear intent to redraw the physical map on the ground.
2. Thailand is playing the “Israel” Game (The Israel-Gaza Model)
The Israeli war model is based on “Disproportionate Force” and accusing the enemy of using “Human Shields.”
Airstrikes: Israel uses fighter jets to bomb conflict zones, leveraging their superior technology. Thailand has used “Airstrikes” against Cambodia. Using fighter jets against a border skirmish is a highly “disproportionate” use of force aimed at large-scale destruction, similar to Gaza.
Accusations against Cultural/Civilian Sites: Israel often accuses Hamas of using schools or hospitals as military bases to legitimize bombing them. Thailand is using the same trick by accusing Cambodia of using “Ta Krabey Temple” as a military base. This is the preparation of a “pretext” to allow them to shell Cambodian temples without violating the laws of war (in their intent).
Creating a “Buffer Zone”: The eviction of civilians and the encroachment into villages is similar to Israel’s attempts to create a buffer zone by annexing neighbors’ land to make it their own.
More Dangerous than a Normal “Border Skirmish”
Thailand is not conducting a normal “Border Skirmish” like in 2008 or 2011. Thailand is waging “Hybrid Warfare”:
– Political (Like Russia): Wanting to annex territory and change flags.
– Military (Like Israel): Using fighter jets and technology to destroy infrastructure.
– Information (Psychological): Using “False Flag” images, such as the image of civilians stepping on landmines, to portray themselves as the victim.
Thailand’s continued attacks by both land and air prove that this is a planned, full-scale “Invasion,” not self-defense.
